What is it?
A new weekend street-food based market located in Coburg, features food trucks as well as street-food stalls. Each weekend comprises of mostly different street-food vendors, as well as a few art and craft stalls and sellers of fresh produce.
The weekend I attended, had vendors such as:
Lil Nomnoms
N2 Extreme Gelato
Creole Kitchen
Yarra Valley Strawberries
Gourmet Pies
Deans Cafe
Ayomo
Street Crepes
Senor BBQ
Drums Cafe
Apam Balik
Treat Yo Self Quesadilla Cart
Hatful of Steam Woodfired Pizza
Price?
Around $7- $15, but average is $10
Location please!?
14-22 Gaffney Street every Saturday and Sunday, from 9am until 3pm.
Public transport accesible
Highlights
A lot of these congregational places for street food vendors are popping up all over the place (Yarraville, Queen Vic), I think it’s nice to have one on the North side for once, for us North Siders
Lowlights
Parking: The traffic along Gaffney St is terrible, especially when the traffic lights take a considerable amount of time to change for pedestrians.
There’s a carpark located on the grounds, however, its difficult to maneuver and gets busy
I recommend parking in a side street or catching public transport
Would you go back?
Yes I would! Just to see the variation in street vendors each weekend
Any tips?
Pick your weekends: was looking forward to Koba and The Brûlée Cart, which was no where to be found 😦
Having a small stomach: when you get there you just want to try EVERYTHING, and I was disappointed that that couldn’t happen
Go early: I arrived at around 10am and stay till 1pm which was good timing as most people were arriving when I was leaving. Although, you don’t really get that market vibe, when there’s only a small amount of people there, I’d rather go through that, than wait in line for 15 mins for my food
